Sole East Resort Wedding | Montauk, New York — Last weekends wedding was great… Maggie (the Bride) found us on Style Me Pretty and fell in love with one of our featured demos (Aubry & Nick). We were excited about filming the wedding as we had never been to “the Hampton’s” before. Having friends in both Brooklyn Heights as well as upstate New York (Patterson & Wallkill) we knew we could both film the wedding & have a great vacation, visiting our friends. If you’ve never been to the Hampton’s and are wondering what Sole’ East is all about, think ACE Hotel (Palm Springs, Ca) meets New York! The hotel itself is a “renovated” hotel turned “Hip” by new owner. Complete with white walls, funky art, DJ spinin’ pool side, restaurant named Backyard, “hipster” cliental & a bar… and you have Sole’ East Resort!

As for Maggie & Craig’s wedding, well we had a great time and it was apparent their guest did too!! Before the ceremony guest were greeted with (two person) guitarist group for a little pre-ceremony & wedding ceremony music. After the wedding had finished, guest were ushered to the “Backyard” for cocktails while Maggie & Craig were filmed & photographed.

Once cocktail hour had finished, we were ready to introduce the newlyweds. I announced the couple, thay walked in to the sound of their guest cheering them on as their (reggae band) Winston Irie played!! Their first dance was also taken care of and played by Winston Irie. If you like reggae, definitely look into them. They are a great group of guys.

Winston Irie continued to play music throughout dinner and the first dance set leading up to the cake cutting. After the cake, the Groom (Craig) said… “Josh, you need to get this party jumpin”. And “jumpin” I got it!! The reggae music was awesome, but when I started playing it was apparent the guest were ready to “cut a rug”!! In an instant we had a party… being a jewish wedding, I started off with Hava Nagila. After getting the guest warmed up with that, I continued to spin classics and current popular hits. We had a BLAST and the dance floor… well you couldn’t see the dance floor for all the people on it!! And that’s just what the bride and groom wanted! We really enjoyed ourselves at Maggie & Craig’s wedding and will never forget the experience.

Well, all we can say is “it’s truly an honor to be featured by such a GREAT company… Kodak!!” When we received an email from them asking if we would like to be featured (on their website) in connection with our use of their Super8mm film, we were like “O’heck yeah!!” They sent over the interview for us to fill out. They asked questions like: What’s your creative style/vision for wedding cinematography? What is your favorite film stock to shoot with? Did you have any formal training in filmmaking? How has your work evolved with advancements in technology… i.e. film stocks, lenses, cameras, etc. Our favorite question to answer though, was: How do your Brides & Grooms react when they receive their “finished film”. We were happy to show three different responses (to that question) from our clients. They said:

“LOVE LOVE LOVE the video! LOVE LOVE LOVE the presentation…I opened the package and thought I’d sent myself a gift…you are my kindred creative spirit! I love how you took all the details to pull together the most BEAUTIFUL and SWEET and STUNNING treat!”

“ We are thanking our lucky stars for finding you. By far you were our greatest investment and the joy, beauty and grace with which you captured our wedding day will forever be captured in our hearts…if only I could carry your talent around in my pocket and be able to share in your ability to illuminate the beauty in the most memorable days of our lives.”

“We wanted to thank you for our beautiful wedding video. Aaron & I have had numerous “showings” at our house & love how all the little nuances were captured. One of our best decisions was using you, other than getting married.”

When we receive such nice and thoughtful “Thank You” emails like this it truly makes us love what we do!!

Read the “full feature” on Kodak’s website.

So I had an absolute BLAST djin’ (saturday night) at Figueroa Mountain Farmhouse!!! It was really AWESOME!! The bride (Megan) is one of the producers of American Idol. The groom (Clay) is also in T.V. & Production in L.A. I have to say these two people are some of the nicest people I’ve met. And one of the most important things to them (on their wedding day) was the music and entertainment. Thus, it was an honor to be hired as the “main entertainment” (see above photo) for dinner & dancing.

In edition to my efforts, I was able to work with a few of the bride & grooms close friends on the wedding ceremony music. I played 2 pre-recorded songs for the bridal party and bride (Re: Stacks by Bon Iver & Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Izzy) to walk down the isle too. During the ceremony three of their friends played (un-ampilified & accapella) and sang the song from the ONCE soundtrack… Falling Slowly. It was AMAZING!! They were so good! For the wedding recessional, they had an “old time band” (Triple Chicken Foot) play the wedding recessional. These guys couldn’t have been better!! They played banjo, violin & acoustic guitar and sang… once the ceremony finished… Triple Chicken Foot continued playing “old time music” for the cocktail hour inside the farmhouse.
